What causes Hair Loss?
Hair loss is caused by varying factors which include genetics, hormonal changes, underlying medical conditions such as PCOS, side effects of certain medications, deficiencies with nutrition or physical or emotional stress.
There are many different types of ‘Alopecia’ which is the medical term for hair loss from the scalp or any part of the body where hair normally grows. We therefore offer a variety of treatment options at the clinic. We typically lose between 50 and 100 hairs every day which is nothing to worry about, but we understand that this can be very upsetting.
What are Polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are a proven regenerative medicine which is a type of skin injectable, comprising of polymerised, polynucleotide-based injectable gel, that aims to help repair tissue by stimulating fibroblasts, encouraging cell turnover, improving elasticity and boosting collagen production. Ideal for repairs, revitalisation and regeneration of hair follicles.
How do Polynucleotides work & what are the benefits?
The polynucleotide chain, in addition to attracting water molecules, has an anti-free radical action, acting as a scavenger of OH hydroxyl radicals which tend to accumulate as a result of stress and cell damage. Polynucleotides function at a cellular level, fostering fibroblast proliferation and collagen synthesis. They enhance blood vessel growth, therefore improving blood flow to the scalp. Their anti-inflammatory and wound-healing properties are crucial in addressing hair loss, often driven by inflammatory processes. They are effective in addressing hormonal hair loss, including male and female by nurturing hair follicles and creating an optimal environment for hair growth.
It is classed as a regenerative treatment. The polynucleotides derived from marine sources such as salmon or trout activate fibroblast and stem cells to regenerate your skin cells.
Who cannot be treated with Polynucleotides?
Those with a known hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid. Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Who can be treated with polynucleotides?
Polynucleotides are a safe and effective treatment for most people and it treats a multitude of concerns.
How soon will polynucleotides take effect?
Polynucleotides typically take approximately 4-6 weeks to work due to the time taken for collagen and elastin to be produced. In terms of hair loss, it takes a few weeks to work as your hair follicles take time to go through their growth cycles (usually 4-6 weeks).
How long do Polynucleotides Last?
Polynucleotides last for approximately 6-12 months but vary between individuals.
How many treatments will I need?
The recommended treatment protocol for Polynucleotides is one baseline treatment, a second treatment 2-4 weeks later and to further optimise results, a third treatment can be administered 2-4 weeks after the second treatment. The protocol depends on the severity of the concern. This will be discussed during your consultation.

PRP for Hair Loss
PRP (platelet-rich plasma) for hair loss is a treatment involving taking a small quantity of blood from a patient, separating the growth factors and bioactive proteins in the blood (which initiate and speed up tissue repair and regeneration) and injecting this platelet-rich plasma into the scalp, to encourage hair growth. Please do not wash your hair on the day of treatment.
how long will the results last?
A course of treatment involves 3 sessions of PRP with one set of injections each month, over 3 months. Ongoing maintenance treatment every six months is recommended.
What is the healing time and aftercare?
Patients are advised not to wash their hair or scalp for 24 hours following treatment. Most people find the treatment isn’t painful, however, if there is some discomfort paracetamol can help.
